Pench National Park

Located in Madhya Pradesh, the heart of India, Pench National Park is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger. Such is the beauty of the forest reserve that it inspired Rudyard Kipling to pen one of his greatest classics, “The Jungle Book”. First declared a National Park in 1975, Pench National Park is also a tiger reserve, owing to a sizable population of tigers in the area. According to the 2018 census, there are about 60 tigers that roam freely in the protected area.

Pench National Park is One of the Best Forest Reserves in the Country

The national park is spread over 411 square kilometers of forested area, in addition to 768 square kilometers of buffer area. It is frequently counted as one of the most well-managed forest reserves in India. While the Bengal tiger is the star attraction of Pench tiger reserve, there are plenty of other animals that inhabit the region. A Pench National Park safari will bring you up close and personal with the Indian leopard, Wild boar, Jackal, Striped hyena, Barking deer, and many more. There are about 40 species of mammals that live in this forest.

Pench is also a bird-watchers’ haven. More than 200 species of migratory birds visit the forest every year, including gorgeous species like the Racket-tailed drongo, Crimson-breasted barbet, Magpie robin, and Lesser whistling teal, to name a few.
