Kanha National Park

Nestled among the Satpura mountain range in Madhya Pradesh, Kanha National Park is one of the best tiger reserves in the country. First declared a national park in 1955, it is known as much for its wildlife as it is for its scenic beauty. Home to the majestic Bengal tiger, the national park is spread across 940 square kilometers of gorgeous terrain that changes from deciduous forests to meadows, and back. According to the 2018 Census, about 130 Bengal tigers call Kanha National Park their home.

Kanha National Park is the Largest Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh is known as the land of tigers in India. Kanha National Park is the largest of the lot. Together with other tiger reserves in the state, the national park is the setting for Rudyard Kipling’s famous “The Jungle Book”. For that reason, Kanha Kisli National Park is also called Kipling Country.

While tigers are the star attraction here, it is also the only place where you can see the endangered Barasingha in their natural habitat. Thanks to relentless conservation efforts at the forest reserve, the rare species of deer was saved from extinction. The national park is also home to Leopards, Sloth bears, Wild boars, Jackals, and Foxes.

The beautiful forest also attracts about 300 species of migratory birds every year, which makes it a bird watcher’s paradise.

An Unparalleled Kanha National Park Safari

A jungle safari can be a tricky proposition. Several factors need to come together to spot animals in their natural habitat – the time of the day and the year; correctly picking up animal trails; an innate understanding of animal behaviour native to the jungle, and likewise. All of that involves experience and that’s where Wildlife Sojourns comes in.

Expert naturalists and guides accompany your Kanha National Park safari so you have the best chance of spotting tigers and other wildlife. They know the forest terrain intimately and are well-versed with picking animal trails. And most importantly, they know the behaviour of tigers that roam these jungles.
